Kashiwa Woodworking Sideboard, Pine, 150cm Width, Country Style
Kashiwa Mokko (KASHIWA) is a leading Japanese furniture manufacturer founded in Hida Takayama in 1943.
Alongside Hida Sangyo, they continue to create furniture that maximizes the inherent beauty of wood, utilizing the reliable craftsmanship and woodworking techniques cultivated over many years.
Inheriting the traditions of Hida while incorporating new technologies, they produce high-quality furniture with a commitment to "Made in JAPAN / Made in HIDA."
This is a pine sideboard from Kashiwa Mokko.
Its charm lies in its rustic and warm appearance, created by the natural expression of pine wood with its knots and grain, a thick top board, rounded front legs, and wooden knobs.
The front panels of the left and right doors combine wood with varying shades, and an open shelf in the center creates a rhythmic design that avoids monotony.
The storage section has a practical configuration with shelved compartments on the left and right, and an open shelf in the center.
It can neatly store tableware, dishcloths, cloths, books, daily necessities, etc. The central open shelf can also be used to display favorite dishes, objets d'art, baskets, and more.
Despite its wide size of 150cm, its height is kept to 70cm, providing ample storage capacity while suppressing a feeling of oppressiveness.
The wood is oil-finished. After cleaning the entire piece for listing, it has been maintained with oil.
The top board was sanded and smoothed, then oiled, and finally waxed to enhance water resistance.
Currently, slight color variations can be seen in the sanded areas, but oil-finished wood will gradually blend in color with use and age, transforming into a natural texture.
With a design that evokes the warmth of wood, reminiscent of a log house, it pairs well with country, rustic, and natural interiors, as well as spaces incorporating reclaimed wood and iron.
It can be used not only as storage furniture in living rooms and dining rooms but also as fixtures in stores and cafes, with the rustic expression of pine wood adding a soft presence to any space.
