【Product Description】

CondeHouse is a furniture manufacturer founded in Asahikawa, Hokkaido in 1968.
Drawing on the aesthetics cultivated by Hokkaido's nature and Japanese culture, they collaborate with designers from Japan and abroad to create high-quality wooden furniture that can be cherished for a long time.

The "Hock" brand remaining on this item is an old brand that CondeHouse operated from 1970 to 1993.
The current "CONDE HOUSE" brand was established in 1982, but before that, the name Hock was used as a brand symbolizing the company's furniture making.

This is an "armchair" from the "BOLS" series, still bearing the Hock logo.

BOLS was born in 1980 and has been continuously manufactured for over 40 years, making it a long-selling and iconic series from CondeHouse.
In addition to bearing the Hock logo, the specifications and the aged condition of the wood and leather suggest that this piece was manufactured in the early 1980s, during the initial stages of the series' production.

It features wide oak armrests and a low, generously deep seat.
The powerful design, which makes use of woodworking techniques and material textures, is appealing, with joinery details at the tip of the armrests and grid-like stitching on the brown leather.

Despite its wide 100cm proportion, the seat height is kept low at 35cm, making it a lounge chair where you can relax comfortably.

This item shows signs of having been restored in the past, with internal reinforcement.
Upon arrival, the wood's coating had been stripped, so it was sanded entirely and then maintained with oil.
Slight traces of old coloring remain in the deeper parts of the wood grain, but these are barely noticeable during normal use.

The genuine leather upholstery has been cleaned and maintained with leather wax.
Areas where deep cracks were observed on a part of the seat have been repaired with leather putty.
Although there are signs of restoration and age-related changes such as wrinkles and color variations in the leather from years of use, these blend in as characteristics unique to vintage furniture, and the oak wood and brown leather create a tasteful atmosphere.

It is recommended for Nordic vintage and Japanese modern spaces, as well as for coordination with items with a sense of material, such as solid wood furniture, vintage rugs, brass, and ceramics.
As a single-seater sofa that can be the centerpiece of your living room, or as a personal chair for reading or enjoying music, it is a piece with a significant presence that you will want to keep for a long time.
