This is a set of sashimi bowls with a blue and white "Araisomon" design by Heian Kato Toshimasa, a master Kyoto ware craftsman.
The beautiful shrimp design painted in shades of indigo on the white porcelain, and the soft shell-shaped form is a masterpiece that breathes the artisan's handiwork.

"Arisomon" is an auspicious pattern depicting shrimp and seaweed in rough waves.
It has long been popular as an auspicious design symbolizing vitality and prosperity.

This set of five sashimi bowls and soy sauce dishes creates a dignified dining atmosphere reminiscent of a traditional Japanese restaurant.
It can be used for a variety of purposes, including sashimi, appetizers, salads, and desserts.

The back is stamped with "Toshimasa" and the box has an inscription that reads "Heian period, shell-style sashimi bowl made by Kato Toshimasa."
The unique brush strokes and variations in shades of each piece are also appealing, and they exude a warmth and quiet presence that cannot be achieved through mass-produced work.

Enjoy the elegant world of Kyoto ware, where the elegant indigo blue of the dyed dishes enhances the Japanese dining experience.
