Mikawachi ware is said to have first been produced at the end of the 16th century.
Since the Edo period, the entire production area was the official kiln of the Hirado domain, producing items for presentation to the shogunate and imperial court.

The majority of his works are in the "Sometsuke" style, a technique in which pictures are painted on the pottery body before it is fired using "gosu," a blue-colored material that turns indigo blue when fired.
Since the human expressions and the freshness of vegetation must be expressed using only the color blue, this work requires delicate and skilled depiction techniques.

Karako-e, a traditional design on Mikawachi ware, was originally called "Karako-zu" (presented Karako paintings) during the Edo period, and was created by order of the feudal domain, depicting "Seven Karako-zu" (paintings of seven Chinese children).
It remains a representative design today as a distinctive symbol of the region of origin.

There are no noticeable scratches such as cracks or chips, and the condition is generally good.
We would like to sell this item to someone who understands that it is a second-hand item.
